A Simple XP Task

PageLayout1.GIF The general customer requirements. Create a web site to use a form and the external media player. Display a list of movies. Select a movie from the list. Detailed information is displayed for the selected movie. Allow the user to scroll through the list. Allow the user to play or download movies. A sample sketch is attached.

XP the tasks. In XP you have to break the customer requirements to testable units of work in an iterative development schedule. Each iteration follows the extreme programing paradgm, but simplisticly, 1) agree on deliverables, 2) scope the engineering tasks, 3) deliver with the customer the qualified iteration for acceptance.

XP success. So far the project looks like there's not a whole lot of requirements. But there are probably hunderds of engineering tasks associated with the development of this simple web site. The trick in successful XP is delivering a well-constrained iteration that meets acceptance. This is done by determining what engineering tasks meet the iteration acceptance.
